Feel the space at Cussins' new homes

The Journal 28/02/09

A SPECTACULAR showhome with a real difference is causing visitors to linger and heap on the praise at a new development close to the coast.

Designer Sarah Jobling has created the impressive showhome at Cussin Homes' Amytis Gardens in South Shields. The showhome, which opened three weeks ago, is the second at the development, the first - created by designer George Bond - having been launched earlier in the year.

Sarah, of design company Portobello Blue, said: "For this one-off development I have designed a fresh decluttered look to complement a new way of living. My design is in sharp contrast to the George Bond showhome and this has been a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase our talents in differing styles while giving buyers even more scope for creating their dream home."

A spectacular wall art from the US dominates the spacious living area while silk Roman blinds in hues of cerise and grey frame the oversized windows, allowing sunlight to flood through the room. This home has a modern yet not minimalistic feel throughout.

Amytis Gardens, on Berkley Street, South Shields, comprises 24 three and four-bedroom homes with a difference, including an emphasis on bringing the outside space in. Prices for the homes are from pounds 189,950.
